Also known as Akha Teej, Akshay Tritiya Puja is a very sacred and auspicious puja in Hindu and Jain communities. It falls on the 3rd Tithi (lunar day) of the bright half (Shukla Paksh) of the Indian month of Vaishakh.
Since Sun and Moon are at their brightest that day, it is considered to be very fortunate and luckiest in Hindu religion. If it falls in conjunction with Rohini Nakshatra, the day becomes even luckier when you perform Online Akshaya Tritiya puja.
It is said that Parshuram, the 6th incarnation of Vishnu, was born on this day. Another legend says that Ved Vyas and God Ganesh started writing the great Hindu epic Mahabharata on this day. In Jain culture, it marks the end of the 1 year fast by Tirthankar Rishabh.
Akshay literally means endless, or something which never diminishes.
