When Shiva is prayed to in his Linga form, it is believed that life and marriage which are considered sacred and everlasting in Hindu culture become eternal. The puja is very pious and perpetual as there is no end to Shiva and his Linga form is the beginning of all creation.
To pray for the achievement of eternal married life, devotees visit temples in Sravan month to offer puja and offerings to the Shiva Linga. It generally includes white curd, ghee, milk, wheat, honey etc. Since Shiva is renowned as the destroyer of the universe in the Trinity, which includes Brahma and Vishnu, he is worshipped for a long and happy married life.
The Akashpureeshwarar Temple is known for having 9 garbhagrahs with each having a Shiva Linga in it. It signifies the 9 planets are made and controlled by Shiva. It also signifies the eternal circle of life and the importance that the 9 planets play in it.
This is one of the many reasons why young couples often come here to pray for having and enjoying wedded union and bliss eternally. However, not everyone can or needs to travel to the temple. They can opt to perform the Online Puja for eternal married life themselves or have someone else perform the Online temple’s temple specific puja on their behalf.
This enables them to gain the shelter of Shiva who blesses them with protection and stability. He leads them towards a virtuous and peaceful family life.
