We bask in the glory of having seen many powerful women in the fields of politics, law, and order, business, sports, arts and literature, medicine, and astronomy to name a few.

Now, let us refer to the world history that is millions of centuries old. Once, the most powerful woman was created to protect the universe and she was worshiped even by the Great Trinity (Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva.)

She is empowered with the creative potency of Lord Brahma, the preserving potency of Lord Vishnu, and the destructive potency of Lord Shiva and is thus, called Brahmani, Vaishnavi, and Rudrani respectively.

She is also the combined form of the powers of goddesses Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Kali. She successfully accomplished the task of protecting the universe from the cruelties of the demon Mahishasura and was named Mahishasura Mardini.

We worship her as goddess Durga, the invincible one. Durga stands for “Durgatinashini”, the one who eliminates suffering. She is the divine mother who protects the three worlds from evil, misery, and ignorance, and guides in the path of victory, truth, and righteousness.
