Religious Festivals – Sri Rama Navami

Sri Rama Navami Celebrations aims to mark the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu calendar, the Ram Navami ceremony falls on the ninth day of the month of Chaitra.

In some place of India, people call this festival as Sri Rama Navratri
Lord Rama is one of the major Gods in Hinduism. Millions of devotees worship Him everyday. There are three main religious festivals offered to the deity Rama are Rama Navami, Dussehra and Diwali.

Rama Navami is observed as the birthday of Lord Rama along with the marriage day of Rama and Sita. The Hindu ninth day is the Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami. Many are spreading wishes of happiness and good health to mark the birth of Lord Rama. This year the festival falls on April 2 Thursday.

Ram Navami Puja

All over the world Hindus organize Ram Navami puja. Most of the people keep fast on this day. During the Ram Navami puja generally, devotees prefer to be on a satvik food which means food cooked without salt. There is no specific rights and ritual to perform pooja.

People visit temples and listen to stories of Ram Janam (Rama’s birth) and various other legends from Ramayana. Bhadrachalam Temple in Telangana is dedicated to Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.

The wedding anniversary of Lord Rama and His consort Sita is celebrated each year with much fanfare on the auspicious day of Rama Navami.
The event is popularly known as Shri Ramanavami Kalyanam Utsava.

In India, Lord Rama is worshiped in every state. The deity has His temples in places like Ayodhya, Odisha, Bihar, Nashik, Jammu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Etc.
