Gangaur is one of India’s most colorful festivals, and it is widely celebrated. It is widely celebrated in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and, more recently, Assam. It is a celebration and fulfillment of the unlimited love that female has to offer the world and existence in general. In today’s digital age, you have the option to access affordable online puja services, combining convenience with traditional practices.

The Gangaur festival is held during the month of Chaitra. The cultural extravaganza that goes with it begins on the first day of Chaitra month. The celebration of Holi comes after that. The term “Gangaur” is made up of two words: “Gan” and “Gaur”. “Gan” is associated with Lord Shiva, but “Gaur” or “Gavar” refers to Goddess Gauri or Parvati, Shiva’s consort.

During the event, a few official rituals are adhered to: Get up early in the morning Preparing and arranging Dubh (a type of grass) for the Puja. Idols are drawn on paper, and the girls are instructed to make 16 little dots with Kum Kum, Kajal, and Mehendi to represent the auspicious status of wifehood. If dubh is not available, moisten the seedlings with a silver ring. On the evening of the seventh day, ladies lead a parade to the beat of drums, carrying Ghudlias on their heads. Ghudlias are earthen pots with several holes and a bulb within. During this procession, they sing many happy songs and dance to the rhythm of their hearts. They also get gifts from their elders. From the eighth day forward, the clay or wooden gods placed in the basket are worshipped. However, other towns do not maintain the baskets. The females offer water to the Goddess while fasting till the afternoon. They then sing traditional folk songs (Geet), accompanied by rituals.
